Drawcard was approached to develop a brand identity for a new independent body to handle complaints about the conduct of South Australian judicial officers.
The Judicial Conduct Commissioner (JCC) was established to provide an independent, fair and transparent way to deal with complaints about judges, magistrates and other judicial officers.
The first part of the project involved creating two distinct logo options. Both options incorporated aspects of the judicial system.
The first concept presented referenced a common legal symbol; the double edged sword wielded by Lady Justice. The colour palette reflected the warm wooden tones often encountered in court rooms.
The second and winning concept took a strictly typographic approach. The JCC ligatures suggest balance and collaboration, and the colour scheme references the judicial robes worn in the Magistrates Court, District Court and Supreme Court.
This concept was successfully applied to a wide array of media; including the JCC website, business cards, forms, brochures, signage and banners.
