As I drove up the hill to photograph this architecturally designed property, it was clear that this was going to be an interesting space. Set atop a hill, with stunning views, this home gave off dramatic sculptural lines at every angle.

Photographing at different times
Depending on the day’s photography schedule, I love the opportunity to capture exteriors at different times. I often begin and end an architectural photography shoot with exteriors or will head out if the light starts to look interesting.
This collection of exterior photographs demonstrate the different moods that you can evoke throughout the day. I love to provide clients with a range of options that the photos can be useful for a variety of applications.
Upper floor
At midday when I arrived the upper floor was drenched in bright light. Often spaces look incredible to the eye, but won’t translate as effectively photographically, so this means moving to different parts of the home to get the best lighting within each area.
Black ceilings
Many areas of this home feature a unique black ceiling. In order to show off the richness of this feature and keep other elements in the space properly lit. I had to employ a variety of different photographic techniques.
Stunning natural light
As the light changed the kitchen became drenched with interesting chards of light that complimented the warm wood and rich black in the space.
I was also able to capture the upper floor at sunset, which dramatically changes the mood of the space.
Hilltop views
At every opportunity, the home makes use of spectacular hilltop views.
Master ensuite & downstairs bathroom
The generous master bathroom featured a large bath, shower, two sinks toilet and event a small sauna. I particularly liked the position of the bath directly under the skylight.
Reflective and black surfaces
The variety of reflective and black elements in this space required me to think carefully about how to best translate this exciting space photographically.
I opted to produce both evocative captures, like the above, that show off the drama of different areas. Paired with photographs, like the adjacent, that more clearly describe design decisions within the property.
